"Saw Sachin Unhappy For 1st Time": Ex-Ind Star On Infamous 194* Declaration

The Multan Test between India and Pakistan in 2004 is remembered for Virender Sehwag 's swashbuckling 309 - the first time an Indian cricketer scored a Test triple-century. However, there was another incident from the Test match that went on to become one of the controversial moments of Indian cricket. With India batting on 675/5 and Sachin Tendulkar unbeaten on 194, skipper Rahul Dravid decided to declare the first innings. While the decision was taken by the Indian cricket team considering the match situation, it meant that Sachin was left stranded six runs away from his double century. Sachin was visibly disappointed with the decision and it was widely criticised by both fans and experts. Former India batter Aakash Chopra recently spoke about the incident and how Tendulkar was extremely "unhappy". “I was in the dressing room, but I wasn't part of that conversation. To be very honest, I didn't even try to get into it because I was too young. Yes, paaji wasn...

"Khelte Kam, Bolte Zyada": Pak Great Slams Babar. Says This On Kohli

Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan has lashed out at star batter Babar Azam and other players for prioritising personal gains over team goals. Babar has come under the firing line for his batting and leadership of late. He hasn't scored a half-century in his last 16 Test innings, with his form drawing harsh criticism from former players. Younis is the latest to jump the gun as far as criticism of Babar and other top players is concerned. Younis highlighted the team's failure to win games in recent times, saying that Babar and others talk more than they perform. "If Babar and other top players deliver on the field, then results will be clear to everyone. Humare players khelte kam, bolte zyada hai. (I have observed that our players tend to talk more than they perform)," Younis told Cricket Pakistan at an event. Younis also urged Babar to learn something from Virat Kohli , pointing out how the India star batter relinquished his captaincy to focus more on his batting...

PCB Fears Embarrassment With Champions Trophy Getting Closer. Reason Is...

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has made it clear that the nation will be host the upcoming Test series against England, refuting the media reports that claimed it could be moved out. The international cricket department's failure to finalise the itinerary has left the PCB chief frustrated. Pakistan are scheduled to face England in three Tests from October 7 with Multan, Karachi, and Rawalpindi being outlined as the venues. However, the construction work going on at these venues ahead of next year's ICC Champions Trophy has created some doubts about the availability of the stadiums there. Champions Trophy 2025 is set to take place in February-March. "With less than a month remaining for the first Test, the international department is yet to even decide where the first match would be held," an insider confided to PTI. He said although Naqvi had shot down a proposal to move the Test series to UAE or South Africa, the department concerned is yet ...

Ex-India Star Says This 'Rolls Royce' Player To Replace Sarfaraz In 1st Test

India's squad for the 1st Test against Bangladesh, starting September 19, was announced last week with KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant making their much-awaited returns to the side. While Rahul played for India during the first two Test against England on home soil, Pant's last series in the whites for India, co-incidentally, was against Bangladesh in December 2022 before an unfortunate car accident accident sidlined him. With several senior players sidelined due to various reasons, Sarfaraz Khan made his much-awaited India debut against England and was an instant hit. The Mumbai batter scored 200 runs across five innings including three half-centuries while averaging 50 and scoring at a strike-rate of 79.36. However, former India batter Krishnamachari Srikkanth feels Sarfaraz will have to give his place back to KL Rahul. While offering his sympathy to Sarfaraz, Srikkanth pointed out that Rahul was injured and actually didn't lose his place. He also added that wicketkeeper-...

'Removing Shaheen From Pak's T20I Captaincy Was Unjust': 1992 WC Winner

The captaincy shuffle in Pakistan cricket team has become a major talking point in the past few months. Babar Azam had relinquished his responsibility as Pakistan skipper across formats after the end of the 2023 ODI World Cup. After him, Shaheen Afridi was named the captain in T20Is while Shan Masood took over the duties in Test cricket. Under Shaheen, Pakistan lost 4-1 to New Zealand just ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup and the pacer was stripped of his role, with Babar being reinstated as white-ball captain. Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Moin Khan , who was also a part of the 1992 ODI World Cup-winning team, said that removing Shaheen as T20I captain was "unjust" and he should have been given more time. "Shaheen Afridi has the ability to lead the team and is highly liked by the players. He is an excellent choice for captaincy in T20s. In white-ball cricket, I don't see anyone else suitable for the role. Removing him from the captaincy was unjust. He is o...

'Dhoni Lost Cool, Kicked Water Bottle Out Of Park,' Reveals Ex-CSK Star

MS Dhoni is widely known as 'Captain Cool' for maintaining a calm demeanour even in adverse situations. This trait alongside his tactical acumen and self-belief has helped Dhoni become one of the greatest leaders of all time. Notably, Dhoni is the only captain in cricket history to win all three major ICC white-ball trophies - T20 World Cup (in 2007), Cricket World Cup (In 2011) and the Champions Trophy (in 2013). Not only this, Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to a record equalling five Indian Premier League (IPL) titles as well. Dhoni's former India and ex-CSK teammate Subramaniam Badrinath has revealed an unheard tale of the legendary player. The incident that Badrinath narrated had the rare instance of Dhoni losing his cool. "He is also a human...he has lost his cool," Badrinath told InsideSport . "But that has never happened on the field. He would never let the opposition know that he had lost his cool. In this match against RCB in Chennai, we we...
