"Prayers Have Been Answered": India Debutant's Heartfelt Call With Mother

The ongoing second Test between India and West Indies is no less than a rollercoaster ride. The visitors fought their way back into the game on Day 2 and bundled out India for 438 after Virat Kohli brought up his marvelous 76th international century. At stumps, West Indies' score read at 86/1 and they trail by 352 runs. Apart from Kohli, this match will always be cherished by Mukesh Kumar , who made his international debut on Thursday. The 29-year-old bowler received his debut catch from all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin . Taking to Twitter, BCCI posted a heartfelt video where Mukesh can be seen sharing the good news to his mother on a phone call.  "Haan maa, pranam! (Hello mother). Your prayers have been answered. I have got the chance to finally represent my country," Mukesh told his mother. "Stay happy. Keep growing, my blessings are with you," she told Mukesh. No Dream Too Small!  Mukesh Kumar's phone call to his mother after his Test debut is all h...

"He Always Insists To...": India A Star On Dhoni's Advice Ahead Of Final

Following a clinical win against Bangladesh 'A' courtesy a fifer from Nishant Sindhu and 66 from skipper Yash Dhull , India 'A' set up a high-voltage clash against Pakistan 'A' in the final of the highly anticipated ACC Men's Emerging Asia Cup 2023. India and Pakistan will square in the final on Sunday in Colombo. Ahead of the final, young opening batter Sai Sudharsan , who smashed an unbeaten century (104* off 110 balls) in the previous game against Pakistan in the group fixture earlier this week, recalled his chat with former India captains MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli . Sudharsan revealed that Dhoni always tells him to work more on himself. Speaking of Kohli, the youngster said that he would like to have a strong mindset like him "Everyone knows Mahi bhai. He is very calm and whenever I speak to him, he always insists to know more about yourself and what you can do for the team. That is more important than trying and doing something or being someone ...

"Kohli Plays All 3 Formats Whereas...": Karthik Weighs In On Fab-4 Debate

Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has put forward his views regarding the fabulous-4 debate that involves India's star batter Virat Kohli , England's Joe Root , Australia's Steve Smith, and New Zealand's Kane Williamson . Karthik opined that Kohli plays all three formats and that will impact his body while Root and Smith majorly play ODIs and Test cricket. Karthik's comments came after Kohli raced to his 29th Test century, which also happened to be his first overseas ton in the format since December 2018. "Virat Kohli plays all three formats, and that is going to take a toll on his body. Whereas Joe Root and Steve Smith just play the two formats a lot more, ODIs and Test cricket. Both Australia and England sometimes end up playing more Test cricket than India, so that gives them the best chance of ending up with a lot more hundreds. But knowing the man and the kind of discipline that he is showing across the board in various countries, he could easil...

4th Ashes Test, Day 4: Rain Frustrates England's Ashes Push vs Australia

Joe Root dismissed Australian century-maker Marnus Labuschagne but rain returned to Old Trafford to frustrate England's hopes of forcing a series-levelling win in the fourth Test on Saturday. Only 30 overs had been bowled during the fourth day when the wet weather swept back in during the revised tea break. Play was officially abandoned for the day at 1727 GMT. Australia are 214-5 in their second innings, still 61 runs behind England, who scored 592 in their first innings. Labuschagne was the only Australia batsman to lose his wicket on Saturday, but not before he had kept England at bay with an innings of 111 -- his first Test century on English soil. England, currently 2-1 down in the five-match series, must win at Old Trafford if they are to maintain their hopes of regaining the Ashes. Worryingly for the home side, the weather forecast for Sunday's final day in Manchester is terrible. Pat Cummins ' tourists thwarted England's bowlers, with Labuschagne and all-ro...

Watch: Ashwin Bowls 'Magic Delivery' To Bowl Out West Indies Captain

Ravichandran Ashwin produced the delivery of the series to breach a dogged Kraigg Brathwaite 's defence as West Indies crawled to 174 for 3 at tea against India on the third day of the second Test on Saturday. West Indies skipper Brathwaite (75 off 235 balls) used his enormous powers of concentration to frustrate the Indian attack on an insipid track before world's No. 1 Test bowler held the centre stage with a magical moment that brought the smiles back in Indian camp. The track on offer here is a poor advertisement for Test cricket and if it gets any rating other than 'Average' from ICC that will be a real surprise. If West Indies were indiscreet in their shot selection in the opening Test, the home team batters were over-cautious and a lifeless pitch helped their negative approach and a draw seems an inevitability. Toiling for close to 73 overs on a track which at best can be called 'dead', Ashwin (30-10-57-1) got delivery that had flight and required inw...

Gill's Early Days At No. 3 Not Good, Ex-Opener Suggests Areas To 'Tighten'

The India-West Indies Test series has seen Shubman Gill batting at a news No. 3 slot. While before this he has been opening the innings for India, Gill is slowly getting accustomed to the new position. He has not scored big in the spot do far. While in the first Test in Dominica he scored six, in the first innings of the second Test in Trinidad he scored 10. Former India opener Wasim Jaffer , who played 31 Tests and two ODIs for India and also holds numerous records in domestic cricket, said Gill will have to learn the trade of batting at No 3, especially on slow and low pitches. "Looking at the bigger picture, he wants to bat there for a longer period. But the start has not been the way he wanted. In this Test match and in this innings, he had a good chance, the wicket was good, (the team) had got a good start. I felt he played a little loose and he obviously will be disappointed with that dismissal, and that is where he needs to tighten up. He likes the ball coming on to the b...
